VOLUNTEERS

These are the “Friends of CitiSlickers” whose invaluable support is the backbone of our team. Perks include free team T-shirts, free food and beverages at the team tent, the gratitude of dozens of cyclists, and never having to wake up at 5am to ride a bike in the rain and cold! If you do not care to ride but want to join the fun then here is your opportunity to participate. Complete a Volunteer Packet to become a team volunteer and join their FUN-raising!  

The following volunteer opportunities are available for 2009:

TEAM MEETINGS: Held from February to July
We are always looking for volunteers to help us ensure that the team meetings run smoothly. You can volunteer for any of the team meetings. There is no heavy physical activity involved, just behind-the-scenes work such as telephone calls, setting up the meeting, arranging meeting space, etc.

BEGINNERS CYCLING WORKSHOP: Cycling workshop usually held in the spring for beginning riders (cyclists just learning to ride or who have never participated in a cycling workshop). Volunteers needed to take photos, set up, and coordinate this event.

ADVANCED CYCLING WORKSHOP: Cycling workshop for intermediate to advanced riders (experienced riders who have been riding at least 2+ years) usually held in the late summer or early fall. Volunteers needed to take photos, set up, and coordinate this event.

FIRST SATURDAY AND SUNDAY IN MAY: Frisco to Fort Worth Bike MS
Saturday:
(1)  Startline at Embassy Suites in Frisco.  Volunteers needed from 6am-7am to help riders prepare for the ride including holding bikes and light lifting of luggage.

(2)  Team Tent at the Texas Motor Speedway in Roanoke, Texas.  Team tent activities: decorate tent; set up and pack up supplies and equipment including tables, chairs, signs, and boxes (light lifting required); assist with cooking and cleaning; food service to hungry team members; and fun with the team.  Preparations begin at 7am and continue until 8pm.  Shifts available from 7am-1:30pm and 1:30pm-8pm if you cannot stay all day.

Sunday:
Day 2 Finish Line in Sundance Square.  Enthusiastic volunteers needed from noon - 4pm to cheer riders across the Finish Line.
