FAQs
What does it cost to join CitiSlickers?
NONE -- It's free!
What type of riding does the team do?
Mostly road rides.
Where and when does the team meet and ride? Check our Calendar of Events to confirm details of our team meetings and bike rallies in which we intend to participate.
Do I have to participate in every ride that the team goes on? No. You can join any ride any time.
What is the average speed of the team? It depends on the ride and rider. Our members vary in speed from 9-23 mph on average. Beginners usually average 9-13 mph, intermediate riders average 14-17 mph, advanced riders average 18-21 mph, and expert riders hammer an average of 22+ mph.
What is the average distance of a typical team ride? Again, it is up to the individual rider. On organized bike rallies and tours some riders regularly choose the longer 65+ mile routes while others opt for the shorter 20-mile routes.
Can children join the fun? Yes. Just have a parent or guarding complete an application for a Minor Rider and accompany the child on all team rides.
Do I have to ride to be part of the team? Absolutely not! Why miss out on all the fun just because you don't want to ride? CitiSlickers team members include volunteers who perform various support activities and motivate the riders. You can also be a “Virtual Rider” which is what it is. Click on these links for more information on being a Volunteer or a Virtual Rider.
How can I learn more about the team before deciding if it is right for me? Good question! Non-members are welcome to ride with us at bike rallies and are invited to check out all our meetings and events. Send an e-mail to our Team Captain to be added to our e-mail distribution list for the latest information on CitiSlickers events and activities.
